We will learn a traditional Scottish or Cape Breton REEL by ear! We will learn the elements that characterize this style of fiddle music — including bowings and grace notes. We’ll explore the importance of RHYTHM and talk a little about the kinds of dancing (ceilidh, Scottish country dance, and Cape Breton step-dancing) that go with the JIG. Students are encouraged to bring a recording device to class. Students should have general technical knowledge of the fiddle, but advanced classical technique is not required
